Iran vs South Korea
Asian World Cup Qualifiers
Date: Tuesday, 11th October 2016
Kick-off at 14:45 UK
Venue: Azadi Stadium, Tehran.

Ever since Carlos Queiroz took over Iran, he has made them 1 of the toughest country to beat(ask Argentina in WC14). While Iran don't have too many attacking stars like South Korea or Japan, they are defensively sound and in attack they are pretty efficient as well.

As for South Korea, fans are getting abit fed up with coach Uli Stielike.Their playing style is ugly and they have struggled to beat teams they are supposed to win easily.

Like I mentioned, South Korea may have the star attacking players but Iran has the system to fit in their hardworking players instead. After watching South Korea in recent games and how they merely beat China and Qatar, I'm not too convinced by them. Even if Iran doesn't win here, I doubt they will lose.
Iran worked extremely hard to come out with a 1-0 win against an Uzbekistan side who are in top of their form at the moment. This put them level on points with Tuesday’s opponent South Korea, who had won their matchday 3 fixture against Qatar by a 3-2 margin. Both teams have previously won and drawn in each of their first two fixtures.

With the likes of China, Syria and Qatar struggling, Uzbekistan is the only team that are looking to threaten the authority of Korea and Iran in Group A. This in turn makes the matchday four of Group A extremely important as a combination of results could open the group wide open.

Iran vs South Korea: Head-to-Head Stats

Iran are the dominant team whenever they came across Korea after winning in 7 of the 13 matches between them. While Korea won thrice, with another three ending in stalemates.

Also, Iran are unbeaten in four World Cup qualifying games against Korea with 2 wins and 2 draws. With the latest two being 1-0 wins.

Iran are also unbeaten in their four home matches against South Korea in all competitions with 3 wins and a draw.

Iran vs South Korea: Prediction

Iran will be coming for Tuesday’s qualifying fixture on the back on an 8 match unbeaten run, with 7 of them being wins. Their only draw during the period was against one of the strongest sides in Asian continent, Japan.

South Korea are also on a good run and have won in 8 of their last 10 matches, while losing one against Spain. The defeat against Spain is also their only defeat in 12 away matches. But they are yet to win while playing in Iran and this makes the home side heavy favourites to get at least a point from this fixture.

The last 9 matches between Iran and South Korea have seen under 2.5 goals. The same could happen on Tuesday as both teams will be vary of each other’s attacking threat and could adopt this fixture with much caution.
